Following discussions at a national Clinical Skills meeting in February 1997, a steering group was organised to set up a UK network to provide links between all those with clinical skills centres for medicine, nursing and other healthcare professions, and to provide support and advice for those in the process of establishing a new centre. Since then there have been a number of one-day conferences and many informal contacts between CSN members.
The CSN works closely with organisations such as NAMS, MonashUniversity in Australia and King's College London to organise conferences and other events. There is a members email loop. The Steering Group is Maggie Nicol. Jan Durbridge, Claire Merriman, Andrew Sykes Helen Harlow and Anne Trotter.
The main aims of the Clinical Skills Network are as follows:
- To provide an effective multi-disciplinary communication channel.
- To provide a forum for exchange of information and to advertise relevant events.
- To provide support and advice.
